Anyone who has replaced one of these in an E36 BMW knows that it is about a one hour job. You have to remove the glove box and some A/C ducts. This filter contains excellent step-by-step instructions in photographs. Be careful when you remove the light in the glove box because it has a long plastic piece that extends from the light back to the button you push to open the glove box. It is easy to break if you don't extract the lamp assembly carefully. Installation of the filter is a little tricky because it's a very tight fit. I couldn't do it without using the break-areas already in place on the filter frame. That allows the filter to bend in three sections. Once the filter is in it lays flat in the holder. I guess that's why there are those lines in the frame to allow you to break it so it will bend a little during installation.
